About CBJ

We are a reform congregation serving the South Shore area and a member of the Union for Reform Judiasm.

Congregation Beth Jacob is "building on a century of traditions". It has been the cornerstone of Judaism in America's Hometown, Plymouth, for over a century since its founding in 1909. The Beis Jacob Society of Plymouth is a welcoming Jewish Community serving the greater pre-cape area of the south shore. We enjoy year-round educational opportunities, learning activities and spiritual fulfillment, With a rich history and vibrant sense of community, "CBJ" is recognized and relied upon by many as the primary source of Jewish resources and activities in the Plymouth area.

For over 40 years, Rabbi Silverman has been a treasure of knowledge and wisdom for us and the greater Plymouth community. In addition to his CBJ spiritual leadership, he is president of the Interfaith Council, minsters at the county jail, manages our involvement with the Coalition for the Homeless, provides Jewish stories and songs for children at the area libraries, and so much more:-) Together, Rabbi Silverman and the congregation strive to be a good neighbor in the Plymouth community who may find themselves in need.

If you are new to the area or visiting Plymouth on vacation, feel free to join us at a Shabbat service. Even if you have resided in the area for years, or indeed, for all of your life, you and your family are invited to join us anytime for a Shabbat service. You will not be disappointed. And, if some other posted event is of interest to you call or email our president Marjorie Nydell, visitors are welcome at most events.

Jewish education is a life-long commitment at CBJ. For our young, Beit Sefer - our religious school, Hebrew lessons, Confirmation Class, and Bar/Bat Mitzvah training with Rabbi Silverman instill a strong Jewish education. Adult Education programs offer venues for learning and meaningful discussions, and include trips and experiences to expand our knowledge and appreciation of Judaism and Jewish culture.
